Description of business unit

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions division provides Technology Services & Solutions, IT Change, Payments and other services to the Bank of Ireland Group, through internal capability as well as management of external vendors and outsourcing partners.

Purpose of the Role

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions division provides IT Run & Change, Payments and other services to the Bank of Ireland Group, through internal capability as well as management of external vendors and outsourcing partners.

Performing a challenging and diverse role the Strategy & Planning Manager will directly support the Head of GTCS Strategy & Transformation Office and GTCS leadership team with Strategic and Business Planning. The role will include a blend of tactical, operational and strategic activities and is critical to provide alignment across the wider GTCS team.

The role holder will work with Senior Stakeholders from across GTCS and the wider Group to create appropriate business plans and implement new processes and approaches which contribute to the achievement of our ambition, purpose and values.

Key Accountabilities

Support the Head of GTCS Strategy & Transformation Office to shape the mission, vision and strategy for GTCS, ensuring alignment to overall Group strategy. Assist with the implementation of strategic initiatives/priorities.

  • Lead the development and implementation of key strategic planning processes; developing comprehensive business plans and performing quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Monitor and report on delivery against GTCS strategic priorities.
  • Provide updates and reporting progress to the GTCS leadership team and other Group functions.
  • Supports the preparation and delivery of high-quality business papers, presentations and strategic business plans.
  • Oversee the sourcing strategy for Group Change and Group IT & Procurement
  • Engage with senior stakeholders, including outside parties, to undertake analyses and present findings to COO and Group Executive Committee.
  • Key point of contact for GTCS for cross-Group activities and initiatives (e.g. those led by Group Strategy and Group Finance)
  • Build a deep understanding of the drivers of business performance, keep current with the competitive landscape, and develop strong working relationships throughout the Group

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years related IT planning and strategy experience in a similar internal role or IT strategy consulting role.
  • Strong strategic planning, decision making and strategic execution skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with ability to produce high quality presentations and business papers.
  • Ability to work effectively cross divisionally and across wider key internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to tackle unstructured/undefined problems and create/apply strategic frameworks and models to solve and provide insights.
  • Highly resilient and organised with the ability to work independently and at a fast pace.
  • Solution orientated with a customer focused approach to solving problems and an individual who promotes collaboration to deliver results.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence and build relationships, demonstrating independence as well as an ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Advanced MS Office skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
