The puprose of the New Ireland Company Wide Technology is to map out technology roadmaps for Wealth & Insurance, introduce appropriate technologies & software to support how we run our business and create and maintain Standards and Methodologies that ensure our solutions are sustainable.

The Technical Lead for Standards & Methodologies will create frameworks and methodologies that are both robust and lightweight. These will be documented and regularly communicated to stakeholders in both business and technology.

Technology teams will be adhering to these as part of their day to day roles in operations, change and forward planning.

Key emphasis for this role is increasing process quality, decreasing costs , ensuring compliance with our regulatory and legislative requirements and aligning strategically with the pillars of Transform, Serve Customers Brilliantly and grow sustainable profits.

Purpose of the Role

The Technical LeadStandards & Methodologies will take a central role in New IrelandCompany Wide Technology Team.

The role will work with Domain Leadsand Solution Architects across all domains within Technology, to ensure that the appropriate standards and methodologies across all of Technologyare uptodate and communicated to the relevant stakeholders.

The role will update existing, or create if necesary, standards and frameworks for:

  • Architecture & Design
  • Analysis
  • Development
  • Quality Assurance, covering both
    • Manual and Automated
    • Functional & Non-Functional
  • Project Management
  • Delivery Frameworks
    • Agile
    • Waterfall
    • etc
  • Technical Operating Model

The role will also be responsible for defining the Softare Development LifeCycle (SDLC) process. The SDLC requires regular feedback from delivery teams allowing refinement at both processand implementation levels.

The Technical Lead Standards & Methodologies will be a key contributor to Technical Design Authority(TDA) review framework.

The role will also be creative in utilising new technologies and methodologies, ensuring that they are introduced appropriately onto the Technology estate.

Within the role, you will also havethe opportunity to act as a Technical Lead on delivery across Hybrid Cloud and Data Strategy implementations,working with Senior Architects as theyimplement roadmaps.

Key Accountabilities

To be successful in this role you must be able to define standards and frameworks that will underpin how our Technology function works, you must be able to communicate these to appropriate audiences, both technical and non-technical.

As the Technical LeadStandards & Methodologies you will:

  • be working with Domain Owners, Solution Architects, PMs, Developers, Analysts, QA, Service Introduction, etc, understanding their roles and ensure they have the appropriate structure to support their roles
  • The role will cover standards and methodologies across Architecture & Design, Analysis, Development, Quality Assurance, Project Management and Delivery methodologies, etc.
  • have a detailed understanding of software delivery lifecycles and how to maximise efficiencies.
  • Work with BOI Group partners, both business and technical to ensure our approach is understood and aligns where necessary
  • Work with Compliance to ensure the approaches are robust and with lightweight implementations
  • Ensure all documentation is in place and fully communicated to all the relevant stakeholders
  • Investigate, evaluate and introduce features, apps & techniques to allow New Ireland utilise Technologies to their maximum. In particular how to use technologies to assist in the delivery of robust frameworks
  • You will gain a detailed knowledge of New Ireland Products and the applications and services that support them and our delivery methodologies
  • Contribute to the entire software development life cycle from the initial business requirement phase to deployment and production support
  • Interacting with other team members and management to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit. Develop and review User Procedures for new functionality and changes to existing functionality
  • Provide support and assistance to project implementation & delivery teams
  • Peer review New Ireland design proposals for accuracy
  • Build sound relationships with all customers both within and outside IT

This job can be done anywhere in ROI with the primary office location as Dublin to which travel will be required for in person collaboration. Exact frequency to be agreed with manager.

Essential Qualifications

  • 3rdLevel Degree in Computer Science/Technical Engineering (or equivalent)

Essential Skills & Experience

Technical Experience

Significant technical experience to include:

  • 3+ years in Technical implementations
  • Team lead/people management experience an advantage

Technical Skills

  • Ability to document standards across the Technology range
  • Ability to define and maintain frameworks and methodologies
  • Ability to simplify and define complex processes
  • Ability to understand a full Software Development Life Cycle
  • Ability to communicateboth at a lower level of technical detail and also presenting appropriately to non-technical audiences
  • An understanding on CI/CD and DevSecOps
  • A firm understanding Business Process underpinning a design
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Flexibility and experience of managing changing priorities effectively
  • Ability to work with implementation partners and suppliers

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Capable of working both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a wider team
  • Ability to run workshops with senior business & technical partners
  • Takes personal responsibility for accuracy and quality
