Division Description

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions Division provides Operations, IT Run & Change, and other services to the Bank of Ireland Group, through internal capability as well as management of external vendors and outsourcing partners.

Description of business unit

The Technology Security Operations function (TSO) within Group Information Security provides a range of Security Operations Services to the Group. These services currently are:

  • Threat Intelligence: Analysing multiple sources of threat intelligence, aggregating the analysis and sharing the output with key stakeholders.
  • Vulnerability Assessment, - identifying security weaknesses on Group IT systems, assessing these weaknesses and communicating them to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Security Monitoring - Monitoring feeds from multiple monitoring sources, identifying events that meet certain criteria, performing pre-agreed activity on these events or escalating them to the relevant Incident response team.
  • Security Response - responding to technology security related incidents and concerns - and working with the relevant parties to resolve them.

Purpose of the Role

The TI lead is tasked with growing and maturing the Group's TI function, reviewing, challenging and developing the team's deliverables, with particular focus on the quality, currency and relevance and reliability of the collateral produced, to support that collateral being a trusted source of information to key senior stakeholders, and to the Group generally.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as primary contact point for GIS, IT@BOI Technical and Senior Management and other internal and external stakeholders for all matters relating to Threat Intelligence.
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify intelligence requirements and develop both new and existing Threat Intelligence services aligned these Business and Regulatory requirements. Communicate, schedule and deliver these services to the estate.
  • Understand overall threat landscape; maintain a knowledge of different operational threats and vulnerabilities, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) practiced by various actors, including hacktivist, criminal, and nation-state.
  • Identify capacity and/or skills gaps within team and address these by developing internal capabilities and/or interviewing and attracting skilled resources to join the TI team. Manage, mentor, motivate, develop and retain the members of the TI team.

Essential Qualifications

  • CISSP or equivalent certification.
  • Relevant 3rdlevel degree - (Level 8 NFQ), or equivalentadditionalexperience

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years Threat Intelligence Experience, with at least 1 year as mid-to-senior level intelligence analyst
  • A deep understanding of advanced cyber threats targeting enterprises, along with the tools, tactics, and procedures used by those threats;
  • Experience generating and presenting written and presentation collateral for senior management.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Experience with automated and manual penetration testing
  • Good working knowledge of industry and commonly adopted secure standards, practices (NIST standards, CIS, ISO, OWASP, SANS, and CERT)
  • Deep understanding of cyber-threats.
