Description of business unit

This role is based within UK Mortgages. The Business Architecture department focuses on supporting business design across UK and Ireland mortgages.

Purpose of the Role

The User Experience designer will be responsible for creating first class journeys for our mortgage customers, partners and colleagues. Working with internal and external stakeholders to research and develop prototypes and concepts to support the UK Mortgages business architecture vision. They will then be responsible for ensuring the vision and design is well understood and translated correctly through to implementation. This includes requirements review, developer briefings and overall responsibility for UX test acceptance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
  • Support the vision creation by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital solutions.
  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mock-ups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
  • Support the development/implementation process. Providing visual assets and guidelines to the development teams/partners.
  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
  • Maintain partnership brand integrity throughout existing and proposed functionality
  • Take a user-centred design approach and rapidly test and iterate designs.
  • Collaborate with the in-house art working team to ensure consistency
  • Provide UX the necessary assets and approval for UAT where appropriate.
  • Were applicable liaise with external agencies to support UX development.
  • Ensure full operational compliance and adherence to all Group policies and department procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Have very good experience of UX design.
  • Expertise in UX software such as Axure or InVision
  • Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills required
  • Extensive experience in digital visual design (in-house or client-side) designing products and features for mobile or desktop, native or web.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to the Business Architecture team
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve key issues.
  • 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grades A-C or equivalent
