The Credit Risk function is responsible for the assessment of new Mortgage Business quality, considering risk appetite and continued account performance monitoring. The Survey function is part of this function.

The Survey team/function provides management of the valuation panel, instruction oversight and auditing valuation reports to allow Mortgage lending to take place effectively and with dependable Security. Development of lending policy/technical advice regarding property types and managing of property related enquiries and technical queries.

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for Auditing quality of valuations by Residential Panel. Provision of specialist valuation/survey advice to internal/external customers and regulators. Advice on repossession/receiverand fraud cases to maximize loss mitigation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Audit Panel of Valuers, monitoring quality and accuracy of mortgage valuation reports to support prudent lending.
  • Complaints & technical queries, resolution to aid lending within policy and deal with pre and post completion issues.
  • Monitoring Panel Company Service Standards, site visits, strategic partnership controls to maintain and enlarge existing panel structure.
  • Undertake valuation work for the Bank within guidelines laid down by Chief Valuer. Local and National remit.
  • Recovery Income maximisation, to ensure Bank losses are minimised through sales mitigation advice and loss recovery through the Professional Negligence process.

Essential qualifications:

  • Professional residential property valuation knowledge & experience, minimum 2 years post F/MRICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) qualification.

Essential skills & experience:

  • Ability to mitigate lending risk through strategic relationships and property based knowledge in the residential market
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Experience of property valuation auditing
  • A minimum of 2 years residential valuation experience.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to assimilate complex and diverse information to deliver improved results
  • Experience of working closely with or within a Mortgage Lending business
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Working knowledge of valuation technology such as Automated Valuation Models (AVMs)
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Project management/SME experience
