What is the opportunity ?

The role offers the opportunity to play a significant role in the design, implementation and oversight of the overall reinsurance and capital management strategy! It provides a unique opportunity for you to develop technical experience, and offers the opportunity to liaise with internal and external partners, including with senior management within the Actuarial, Risk and Product teams.

In this role you will:

  • Support the Reinsurance Actuary and Head of Capital Management to design, implement and maintain oversight of the reinsurance strategy and capital strategy for the Company.
  • Support the ongoing relationships between the Company and its reinsurance and investment partners
  • Monitor and manage the reinsurance and investment exposures alongside managing and supporting with key projects
  • Prepare papers and providing updates to the Company's Reinsurance Committee and Risk Committees on various Reinsurance and Capital developments and projects
  • Collaborate with Reserving, Finance, Risk and Product colleagues

What will make you stand out?

The role is suited to a candidate with strong analytical, problem solving and modelling skills, complimented by a demonstrated ability in managing and delivering on multiple tasks. Candidates should have strong communication skills and display an ability to work effectively with, and constructively challenge and influence the actions of partners. Experience of the life and pensions business with a proven track record in managing relationships is required.

Experience with any of the following will help you to stand out but is not necessary in order to apply for this role;

  • Past experience of the Life (re)insurance market
  • Past experience of asset management and investment within Life Insurance
  • A developed understanding of the Company's financials and product range.
  • Reporting experience including MCEV, IFRS, local GAAP and Solvency II
  • Good knowledge of the regulatory landscape.

  • Qualified Actuary with relevant work experience

The Wealth and Insurance division of Bank of Ireland is a market leading life, pension and general insurance provider in the Irish market. New Ireland distributes across three core channels made up of the Group's distribution channels, independent financial brokers and its own tied financial advisor network. It is the only Bancassurer in the Irish market. The role will be primarily focused within the Reinsurance and Capital Management area of the Actuarial Function.

This is a hybrid role and can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin. Travel will be required for in-person collaboration -exact frequency to be agreed with manager.
