What is the opportunity ?

The position provides an outstanding chance to handle financial statements for Ireland's biggest Life Company.

Join a team with various tasks and engage with finance, senior management, business change, IT, actuarial, and communications.

In this role you will

  • Be the IFRS 17 accounting engine owner, running the IFRS 17 subledger process and ensuring flawless controls and outputs.
  • Complete the quarterly Group submission of IFRS 17 reporting process, including manual calculations, reconciliations, journal postings, and consolidation adjustments.
  • Produce the Quarterly IFRS 9 Investment Asset and IFRS 17 insurance contract liability Disclosure notes required for Group reporting.
  • Participate in the preparation of the FRS 102/103 NIAC statutory accounts.
  • Build and maintain an exceptionally robust reconciliation and control framework, while updating process and control framework documents to improve team documentation.
  • Serve as the point of contact for internal and external Auditors, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Establish, maintain, and grow strong collaborative relationships within the Bank of Ireland Group Finance and the Wealth and Insurance division.
  • Communicate effectively with various departments, including Group Finance, IT, Actuarial, and the wider finance department.

Essential Qualifications

Qualified Accountant with experience working on IFRS and FRS reporting.

More about the team

The Financial Reporting and Control function is accountable for completing the statutory and Group Wealth and Insurance financial statements. The team also leads monthly reporting to the Bank of Ireland Group, management reporting, and Solvency II regulatory reporting to the Central Bank of Ireland. These responsibilities involve performing a wide range of processes and controls within strict deadlines.

The successful candidate will coordinate the IFRS 9 & 17 reporting process into the Bank of Ireland Group and produce the statutory financial statements. This is a hybrid role that can be performed from anywhere in the Republic of Ireland, with Dublin as the primary office location. Travel may be required for in-person collaboration, with frequency determined by the manager.
