What is the opportunity

This is an analytic role for a subject matter expert in the field of credit risk. This is an important role in the UK Credit Risk 2nd Line of defence team that includes experienced colleagues with technical experts across the Credit Risk lifecycle.

Building and testing credit risk strategies used within credit decision systems. The role holder will be able to demonstrate experience of using analytical methods for building and testing credit risk models & associated strategies. They will be familiar with different internal and external data sources that are used to support credit risk management for Retail, Asset Finance and Commercial lending.

In this role you will:

  • The role holder will carry out technical testing of 1st Line credit risk analytics. This will include use of credit models and strategies involving customer segmentation and cut-offs;
  • Testing the integrity of credit risk models to provide 2nd Line assurance that they remain fit for purpose on an ongoing basis;
  • Testing the integrity of management information used to monitor the effectiveness of credit risk models and strategies deployed by the 1st Line;
  • Carrying out technical reviews of the development, integrity, monitoring and potential remedial measures concerning credit risk models, including the UK's IFRS9 models;
  • Carrying out technical reviews of the UK Business Banking BIPs and other associated commercial lending models;
  • Testing the integrity of data lineage for IFRS9 and the broader credit risk management data used within the 1st Line;
  • Periodic testing of the credit MI produced by the 1st Line to ensure it is accurate and reliable for use in portfolio management, forecasting and segmentation to support credit strategies;
  • The role holder will also support the authorship and presentation of 2nd Line oversight and challenge papers in response to 1st Line proposals.

What will make you stand out?

Proficient in the use of SAS software including Enterprise Guide and Enterprise Miner; SQL; and Microsoft Excel at an advanced level;

A comprehensive understanding of data and modelling requirements for credit risk management - including but not limited to operational scorecards, behavioural models, portfolio forecasting, stress testing and IFRS9 Expected Credit Loss;

Regression techniques (Linear, Logistic and Stepwise), model validation approaches and Performance monitoring;

A thorough understanding of the internal and external data types that are used for credit risk modelling, credit strategies and portfolio management;

Experience of Retail, Asset Finance and Commercial credit risk management across all stages of the customer life-cycle;

The role holder will work as part of a team that must be able to collectively explain very technical analytic matters in plain English;

Report writing skills.

The role holder will work with a team of technical specialists whose subject matter expertise covers Retail Credit, Commercial Credit, Vehicle Asset Finance, Credit Modelling, Credit Management Information/Insights, Portfolio segmentation and forecasting. As part of the team, the role holder will carry out technical testing of 1st Line activities concerning credit model integrity; credit origination strategies (including use of pre bureau strategies, scorecards, affordability models, and customer segmentation techniques); reporting and forecasting of Credit MI; portfolio segmentation and associated customer management strategies deployed through the use of models; and impact assessments of new and emerging credit strategies that support the Bank's growth agenda. The team will also have responsibility for the oversight of development, and monitoring of IFRS9 models for the UK. This will include assurance over data lineage.
