What is the opportunity?

Working in a team of technical control specialists to deliver a programme of control testing and thematic reviews of key processes and suppliers within the Enterprise Services Division. You will partner with business units to provide confidence to process owners and business units that processes are robust and well controlled to deliver good outcomes for our customers!

In this Role, you will

Develop and lead on the delivery of the Enterprise Services control testing plan for Third Party Risk and Operational Resilience Controls. You will also design and lead a programme of controls reviews in critical third parties.

  • Lead thematic control diagnostic reviews and interventions in response to risk assessments, incidents and events to make recommendations on improvements to control design and implementation.
  • Develop and coach of Enterprise Services controls team members to build risk and assurance technical capability and critical thinking.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to evaluate the efficiency of business processes and key control activities.
  • Support control owners in understanding the impact of control deficiencies on the risk profile and formulation of actions plans to address deficiencies.
  • Support process and control owners in proactively improving the design of control activities to be more reliable and efficient.
  • Support on the development and implementation of control indicators and control reporting.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Leadership experience with strong influencing and negotiating skills, with the presence, creativity and knowledge to build rapport and credibility at all levels.
  • A proactive and strategic risk attitude, ability to assess articulate risk and control in the context of strategic objectives and customer expectations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to explain and advise on technical and risk-related topics, effectively influencing others to take action
  • Ability to deliver controls assurance in a manner that adds strategic value to the business versus a check the box attitude
  • Technical experience in an assurance role including experience in leading teams to implement controls testing programmes
  • Experience in understanding and applying third-party and operational resilience risk management practices and regulatory requirements within the financial services sector
  • Experience in driving simplification and innovation through use of data and technology to enhance controls and deliver more effective and efficient assurance activity.
  • Experience in partner management across the 3 lines of defence and with regulators on risk and control matters.

The Enterprise Services Control Tower is a specialist controls team within the Enterprise Services Risk and Compliance Team. Enterprise Services Risk and Compliance is responsible for supporting, guiding, advising, and coordinating the business units within Enterprise Services as they complete their responsibility for handling, monitoring, and reporting of risk in their respective units.
