What is the opportunity?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Fraud Manager to play a key role in supporting Bank of Ireland UK's strategic growth ambitions and strengthening our approach to fraud risk management.

Reporting into the Financial Crime Risk & Operations Centre of Excellence, you will lead the management of fraud risk and operational activity across the UK business (excluding Mortgages). You will have end to end accountability for fraud risk appetite, oversight of outsourced services, leadership of a specialist team, and delivery of regulatory and critical initiatives. This is a high-impact role offering exposure to senior stakeholders, sophisticated risk environments, and meaningful change programmes.

Please note this is a 9 month fixed term contract position, and the successful candidate can be based in Belfast, Bristol or London.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide full leadership and accountability for all fraud risk and operational activity within the first line of defence (excluding Mortgages)
  • Own first line responsibility for Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC), including delivery of the annual ABC plan
  • Lead and develop a team of six Fraud Managers across Risk, Operations, Education & Awareness, and ABC
  • Lead all aspects of outsourced fraud services delivered by Group Fraud & FCIC, including:
  • Annual review of the Service Catalogue
  • Chairing the Outsourcing Servicing Committee
  • Quality assurance sampling and SLA / Key Performance Indicator oversight
  • Interpret regulatory change and ensure appropriate controls and processes are designed and implemented
  • Act as a subject matter authority, providing advice and guidance on fraud risks and issues across the business
  • Ensure an effective fraud risk control framework is embedded and operating effectively
  • Lead and resolve fraud-related issues in line with governance and framework requirements
  • Produce high-quality management information and reporting for senior governance forums
  • Support Customer Outcome Testing to ensure fraud controls contribute to fair customer outcomes
  • Contribute to strategic and operational change programmes and project teams
  • Build strong relationships with industry bodies, attend external forums, and leverage best practice

What will make you stand out?

  • Significant experience across fraud risk and fraud operations, covering both consumer and business products
  • Strong experience managing fraud operations including SLAs, Key Performance Indicators and KRIs
  • Proven knowledge of fraud regulation, risk management, controls, and issue resolution within financial services
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and working autonomously in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide robust analysis and clear recommendations
  • A commitment to continuous professional development; willingness to study towards industry qualifications (e.g. ICA International Diploma in Financial Crime) if not already held

More about the team

This role sits within the Financial Crime Risk & Operations Centre of Excellence in UK Operations. The team is responsible for managing first-line financial crime activity across Fraud, AML (including Sanctions and Counter-Terrorist Financing), Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Conflicts of Interest, and Gifts & Hospitality.

The team provides expert guidance, operational oversight, investigation support, and project delivery to UK product areas, helping the business mitigate financial crime risk while meeting regulatory obligations and delivering positive customer outcomes.

This is a hybrid role, with the primary offices to be confirmed within the UK. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support collaboration and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
