What is the opportunity?

You will work as the Technical Lead for one of our API Engineering Squads responsible for designing and developing APIs and Integration flows using Mule ESB Anypoint Solutions

We are a growing an exciting unit called Enterprise Integration that own API and Integration technology development across a number of strategic integration platforms and products.

You will be joining a team of creative, like-minded technology enthusiasts who have the skills and capabilities to deliver industry leading software solutions to meet the current and future needs of a market leading Digital Relationship Bank.

We have fully embraced Agile ways of working such as Scrum, DevOps and CI/CD in a highly collaborative team environment.

In this Role, you will

  • Identifying, analysing, designing and developing APIs and integration flows
  • Creation and reviewing of logical designs and low level designs working with other technical leads and solution architects within the API squads
  • Software development using various programming languages and related tools and frameworks MuleSoft and Spring.
  • Code reviews, defect triage and fixing, unit testing, providing support for integration testing and non-functional testing
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers within the squad
  • Highlight where assets or capabilities could be created / adopted to help improve delivery velocity
  • Work with Engineering Leads and Solution Architects to help improve standards of delivery within the squads
  • Contribute to the squad sprint planning and provide feedback into retrospectives to ensure that the squad and function continuously improves
  • Develop and support the service catalogue approach to drive re-use and improve efficiency and effectiveness of delivery

What will make you stand out?

  • Technical experience of the end to end SDLC including (on-premise and cloud hosting); waterfall & agile methodologies, dev/ops processes, management of solution design and development teams, automation tooling, code management and environment services
  • Experience leading engineering teams with a steadfast focus on delivering business value
  • Experience of Agile governance, operating models and partner management in a large complex Financial Services environment
  • Experience of managing code into production and service management
  • Management experience within a complex business environment where there are substantial numbers of non-direct reports and multiple 3rd party suppliers

Experience with any of the following will help you to stand out but is not necessary in order to apply for this role;

  • Deep understanding of IT Industry standard methodology in Agile software delivery
  • Understanding of the delivery risks faced by IT delivery and the controls in place to manage & mitigate these risks
  • Credibility and confidence working at senior levels in the organisation, including C-suite executives

Essential Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Engineering or Computer Science based discipline

At Bank of Ireland, our IT Engineering and Delivery team are accountable for the delivery of IT Change Solution across the business.

As part of that team our Enterprise Integration team are responsible for delivering IT Solutions for across the overall Bank of Ireland Digital Portfolio as part of the Bank's IT Engineering Function.
