What is the opportunity?

We are looking for a Backup & Restore Engineer to join our Data Protection Services team in Infrastructure Operations. You will work in a multi-vendor environment and be part of a close-knit team of experienced backup engineers who are using some of the most modern and innovative backup and restore technologies to protect Bank of Ireland and our customer's data.

In this Role, you will:

  • Be the team SME for Dell PowerProtect technologies.
  • Manage multiple outsourced IT Service Partners to ensure we get high quality support and meet service targets.
  • Support the deployment of new features and enhancements to backup services and related reporting.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage our backup services, proactively identifying and resolving any issues.
  • Support the IT Service Management process used in Technology Services.
  • Create and maintain documentation such as operational procedures and technical standards.
  • Maintain compliance through adherence of defined Controls both now and into the future.

You will have proven experience working with Dell PowerProtect products:

  • Dell Data Domain
  • PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM)
  • Dell Protection Advisor (DPA)
  • NetWorker

Experience in any of the following backup and restore technologies will make you stand out!

  • IBM Spectrum Protect
  • IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM)
  • Commvault
  • Veritas Netbackup

Also desireable is experience with backup storage solutions such as:

  • AWS S3
  • Mainframe Virtual Tape Library (VTL)

Essential Qualifications

  • Dell PowerProtect related certification.
  • Third Level IT Qualification or equivalent experience.

The role of the Infrastructure Operations team is to 'Enable the Service' through driving the Groups Service Partners in providing the Bank with the technology platforms required to run the business effectively and efficiently, securing customer and bank data, improving stability and remaining current in order to provide a premier service.

The Data Protection Services works within Infrastructure Operations to provide backup and restore services for our internal customers.

This is a hybrid onsite role and can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as ITC, Cabinteely, Dublin 18. Travel will be required for in-person collaboration - exact frequency to be agreed with manager. #LI-HYBRID #IJ-HYBRID
