What is the opportunity?

Group Legal Services (GLS) plays a key role in supporting the Bank of Ireland Group by managing legal risk and promoting strong governance. We are recruiting a Senior Legal Advisor to provide specialist legal advice on life assurance, investments and pensions, primarily supporting New Ireland Assurance and other Group companies. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with senior partners, influence business decisions and deepen your expertise in insurance and pensions law within a leading financial services group.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide clear, practical legal advice to senior management and business colleagues on the law and regulation of life assurance, investments and pensions.
  • Anticipate, assess and advise on legal and regulatory risks impacting products, services and pivotal initiatives.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and support the business in responding to a changing regulatory environment.
  • Negotiate, draft and review material commercial contracts, including outsourcing, software licensing, investment management, custody, intermediary arrangements, pensions and reinsurance.
  • Handle disputes, including complaints, claims and a small litigation portfolio.

What will make you stand out?

You are a confident and trusted legal advisor who can translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, commercial advice. You bring strong experience in insurance, pensions and investment products, gained in a commercial law firm or an in house financial services environment. You are comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, building strong relationships and constructively challenging business decisions where needed. Your sound judgement, critical thinking and decision making skills help you navigate ambiguity and competing priorities. You are proactive, collaborative and motivated to stay current with regulatory and industry developments in Ireland.

Essential qualifications

Irish qualified lawyer with extensive post qualification experience in insurance, pensions and investment related legal matters.
