What is the opportunity?

An opportunity has arisen for an Agile Coach & Scrum Master Competency Lead to join our team!

The Agile Coach and Scrum Competency Lead will oversee allocation of Agile Coaches to tribe leadership teams who will be mentored and guided on how to mature Agile ways of working overtime. Overseeing an Agile Maturity Framework across tribes will help ensure that coaching is focused on the most important areas.

In this role, you will:

  • Build and maintain comprehensive Agile Coach and Scrum Master competency frameworks aligned with industry procedures and Bank of Ireland's strategic goals.
  • Define clear competency levels (e.g., Foundation, Practitioner, Expert) with associated skills, behaviours, and performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with HR, Learning & Development, and Agile Coaches to ensure alignment with broader talent and capability strategies
  • Define an Agile maturity framework for Tribes and create tailored development pathways for Scrum Masters at different levels of experience and capability.
  • Identify and curate learning resources, certifications, mentoring opportunities, and experiential learning formats.
  • Partner with internal and external training providers to deliver hig quality learning experiences, coordinate the Scrum Master apprenticeship pipeline, and develop tools and processes for assessing Agile Coach and Scrum Master capability.
  • Support career development conversations and succession planning within the Agile Coach and Scrum Master communities
  • Provide guidance to line managers and CoE leadership on capability gaps and development priorities.
  • Foster strong Agile Coach and Scrum Master communities through forums, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Act as a leader with vision and advocate for Agile Coach and Scrum Master excellence across the organisation and continuously gather feedback from Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters to refine frameworks and roadmaps.

What will make you stand out?

The successful candidate will have a solid background in Agile ways of working, with proven experience as an Agile Coach, Scrum Master, and in hands?'on Agile delivery. Your understanding of frameworks such as Scrum, SAFe, and LeSS is supported by recognised certifications like PSM I/II, CSM, or A?'CSM, enabling you to guide teams and organisations in adopting effective Agile practices. You've also designed and implemented competency models and development programmes, helping individuals and teams grow their skills and mature their Agile capabilities.

Your strengths extend to stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and people management, allowing you to build trust, navigate complex environments, and support teams through change. You excel at building communities of practice that connect people, encourage knowledge?'sharing, and strengthen organisational culture. This combination of coaching expertise, leadership capability, and community?'building skill positions you as a highly effective enabler of Agile transformation.

This is a hybrid role, based primarily at Baggot Plaza, Dublin. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support collaboration and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
