What is the opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join our Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE), a key team shaping how Bank of Ireland uses cloud technology to transform the business. As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will help design, build and support modern cloud solutions that enable teams across the organisation to deliver better outcomes for customers.

You'll work with current tools and practices, contributing to a forward thinking environment focused on innovation, automation and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will:

  • Compose, build and support cloud infrastructure and platform services using automation and infrastructure as code
  • Develop and enhance features within the Bank's cloud platform to support internal projects and teams
  • Create monitoring and performance strategies to improve reliability, availability and fault resolution
  • Collaborate with partners and internal teams to deliver solutions using Agile and DevSecOps practices
  • Contribute to CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery) pipelines and support DevOps tooling for the Azure platform

What will make you stand out?

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps (ADO) and Terraform.
  • Experience designing, building and supporting secure, scalable cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation, monitoring and alerting.
  • Understanding of cloud cost optimisation and platform performance.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with engineers, architects and partners.
  • Proactive approach, taking ownership and driving improvements through to delivery.

You bring a strong understanding of cloud platforms and enjoy working in a fast moving, collaborative environment. You take a practical approach to solving problems and are comfortable working across infrastructure, automation and platform engineering.

You focus on delivering reliable services that meet customer needs, while understanding the importance of risk and operating in a regulated environment. You communicate clearly, share knowledge with others, and support continuous improvement across tools and processes.

Experience with any of the following will help you to stand out but is not necessary in order to apply for this role;

Azure certification in Architecture, Admin or Developer

Certifications in Terraform.

Experience working with AWS.

The CCoE is a multi-functional team focused on building and evolving the Bank's cloud platforms, governance and standard methodologies. The team supports cloud adoption throughout the organisation, helping deliver scalable, secure and efficient solutions.

You'll be part of a supportive team that values collaboration, learning and innovation. We work closely with technology and business teams to enable change and deliver real impact.

This is a hybrid role, based primarily in our ITC Centre in Cabinteely, Dublin. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support collaboration and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
