What is the opportunity?

Join our dynamic Enterprise Integration team at Bank of Ireland, where we design and deliver API and integration solutions across strategic platforms. As an API Technical Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital banking by leading the design and development of APIs using MuleSoft or Spring Boot,?"depending on your strengths.

You will be joining a team of creative, like-minded technology enthusiasts who have the skills and capabilities to deliver industry leading software solutions to meet the current and future needs of a market leading Digital Relationship Bank.

We have fully embraced Agile ways of working such as Scrum, DevOps and CI/CD in a highly collaborative team environment.

In this Role, you will

  • Design, develop, and review APIs and integration flows.
  • Collaborate on logical and low-level designs with technical leads and solution architects within API squads.
  • Develop APIs and integration using MuleSoft, Spring, and related technologies.
  • Conduct code reviews, defect triage, unit testing, and support integration/non-functional testing.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
  • Identify and implement reusable assets to improve delivery.
  • Work with Engineering Leads and Solution Architects to enhance delivery standards.
  • Contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives for continuous improvement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a service catalogue to drive efficiency and reuse.
  • Support all phases of the SDLC, from initial estimation of project initiation through development and production deployment of APIs.

What will make you stand out?

Technical experience of the end to end SDLC including (on-premise and cloud hosting); agile methodologies, dev/ops processes, management of solution design and development teams, automation tooling, code management and environment services

  • Strong experience with MuleSoft or Spring Boot
  • Familiarity with API lifecycle management, RAML, and MuleSoft Exchange.
  • Experience in leading engineering teams using Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and automation tools to deliver business values
  • Experienced in managing code deployments to production and overseeing service management activities.
  • Experienced in managing within complex environments involving numerous indirect reports and multiple third-party suppliers.
  • Confident and credible when engaging with senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives.

Experience with any of the following will help you to stand out but is not necessary in order to apply for this role;

  • Experience in Financial Services or other regulated industries.
  • Understands key IT delivery risks and the controls required to effectively manage and mitigate them.

At Bank of Ireland, our IT Engineering and Delivery team are accountable for the delivery of IT Change Solution across the business.

As part of that team our Enterprise Integration team are responsible for delivering IT Solutions for across the overall Bank of Ireland Digital Portfolio as part of the Bank's IT Engineering Function.

The Engineering function offers great prospects for career progression within the Bank along with opportunities to build and grow highly sought-after skills and capabilities.

This is a hybrid role, based primarily at ITC Cabinteely, Dublin. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support collaboration and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
