What is the opportunity?

This is an exciting opportunity to join Group Internal Audit (GIA), the third line of defence for Bank of Ireland Group. As an Audit Manager, you will support the delivery of independent assurance across financial reporting, regulatory reporting, environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosures and tax processes. Your work will help strengthen reporting integrity, regulatory compliance and internal control frameworks, while providing insight to senior management, the Board, the Audit Committee and regulators.

In this role, you will:

  • Support Audit Leads in delivering end to end audit engagements, from planning through to reporting, in line with GIA methodology.
  • Contribute to audit planning to ensure key risks across financial reporting, regulatory reporting, ESG and tax are appropriately covered.
  • Support the testing of design and operating effectiveness of controls, identifying risks, root causes and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in producing clear, well structured audit findings and reports, and engage with stakeholders throughout the audit lifecycle.
  • Contribute to continuous monitoring, risk assessments and the validation and timely closure of audit issues.

What will make you stand out?

You bring experience from audit, finance, risk or control environments, with a good understanding of financial reporting frameworks such as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), regulatory reporting requirements like FINREP and COREP, and emerging ESG disclosure expectations. You enjoy analysing complex information and explaining it clearly to others.

You are organised and comfortable managing competing priorities, while maintaining attention to detail. You build effective working relationships and engage constructively with stakeholders at different levels.

Experience with the following will help you stand out but is not required to apply for this role:

  • Exposure to ESG regulatory frameworks or sustainability reporting
  • Understanding of tax governance and control frameworks
  • Experience in large, complex financial institutions

Essential qualifications

Qualified or working towards a relevant Internal Audit qualification (Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Information Systems Auditor) or an accountancy qualification (ACA or ACCA).
