What is the opportunity?

The Head of Tribe Tech will report to the Domain Tech Director. This position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire, shape and lead the technical vision for each of the respective Tribes.

The Head of Tribe Tech oversees Tribe IT and Change Delivery Governance, which includes handling financials and ensuring risk compliance. This role is responsible for aligning technology initiatives with business objectives and driving digital transformation in partnership with the Domain Tech Director.

You will share accountability for Objectives and Key Results and ownership with the Head of Tribe - Business Line. You will collaborate to ensure both business and technical success. These crucial positions require outstanding leadership skills to navigate a sophisticated and nuanced business environment to foster progressive cultural change.

Additionally, to support the enterprise-wide scaling of delivery across Tribes, this role is crucial for evolving Agile Working Methodologies across the organization. Collaborating with other Tribe leadership positions, you will ensure a consistent and aligned operating model for change delivery throughout the organization!

In this Role, you will

Tribe Management and Tech Delivery (joint ownership with Head of Tribe)

  • Lead the delivery of the Tribe's mission and objectives ensuring all requirements and prioritisation are met
  • Proactively drive knowledge and expertise by aligning with Tech Chapter Leads.
  • Define the technological direction for the Tribe, guiding its evolution and ensuring alignment with overarching goals - act as Tech Custodian at Tribe level (all tech assets of the Tribe
  • Lead and be responsible for the successful delivery of technology initiatives across the Tribe, ensuring continuous tech operations and adherence to non-functional requirements.
  • Responsible for coordinating and leading all technological assets within the Tribe, ensuring their efficient performance and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Provide leadership in driving the Customer Domain QPP, ensuring strategic alignment and excellence in execution
  • Champion and nurture a growing culture within the Squad, aligning with interpersonal values and agile leadership principles.

Resource & Capacity Management

  • Lead the development and maturity of tech professionals: hierarchical manager of the Tech Chapter Leads
  • Play a leadership role in supporting the Head of Tribe to prioritise roadmap and backlog based on business value and risks
  • Lead the co-creation and championing of the squad mission, roadmap, and backlog, encouraging a shared vision and encouraging strong dedication
  • Define high level backlog items focusing on Themes and Initiatives that align with strategic goals
  • Ensuring capability and tech related resources are recruited and continuously developed (joint accountability with Centre of Excellence Lead relevant to the resource)

Cross Tribe Co-ordination

  • Regularly connect with other Head of Tribe Tech to track tech priorities and standards as well as to discuss expectations and difficulty
  • Empower Tribes and Squads by actively removing obstacles and facilitating iterative delivery.
  • Ensure that Tribe/Squad solutions are coordinated and released seamlessly
  • Balance trade-offs among Tribes and Squads e.g. technical solutions/architecture/blueprints
  • Ensure adherence to tech standards & practices across different parts of the organisation (cross-tribe/customer domain)
  • Lead the charge in breaking down silos by playing a pivotal 'integrator' role across the organisation, encouraging collaboration and unity

Partner Management:

  • Drive transparency on the Tribe backlog and the value delivered, ensuring accountability and fostering trust among partners and teams
  • Identify and resolve significant obstacles or issues that could impact the Tribe's ability to deliver on its objectives. Accountable for leading on the resolution of these issues promptly and effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with business partners to understand their needs, priorities, and expectations.
  • Together with the Tech Chapter Leads ensure that vendors and partners adhere to the organisation's technical standards, security requirements, and quality expectations.

  • Ability to lead and run multi-discipline teams, ensuring alignment across diverse departments and functions, driving innovation, and achieving strategic goals.
  • Confirmed experience in technology strategy, large-scale IT system design, and delivery
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps delivery methodologies.
  • Consistent record in evaluating and developing tech and change professionals, with accountability for driving colleague engagement within a team or function.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise initiatives and strategically align them with business objectives, driving organisational success.
  • Conclusive leadership required by making tough and strategic decisions, ensuring the Tribe's long-term success and resilience.
  • Consistent track record to engage and align with senior leadership and key partners, fostering collaboration and shared vision.
  • Expertise in driving engagement and influencing strategic decisions to achieve organisational goal
  • Previous experience in IT operations (Run) or Change Delivery managing large sophisticated IT Change programmes would be a distinct advantage.
