What is the opportunity?

This is an outstanding opportunity to set the IT and Digital agenda for the Bank of Ireland To modernise, simplify and ensure that business and technology outcomes are achieved and Bank of Ireland's growth ambitions are supported!

The Principal Architect IT Strategy and Innovation will engage senior business, change and IT stakeholders and will work closely with other enterprise architects in a dynamic well-established and encouraging EA team.

In this role, you will;

  • Partner with senior business and technology leaders to define and align IT strategy with the bank's overall business, digital and technology strategies and objectives.
  • Bring significant experience and deep domain expertise from a background in IT Consulting, IT Leadership, and Innovation.
  • Lead the development, articulation, and delivery of the overall Enterprise IT Strategy, aligning with business strategies, considering market/technology trends and setting the target and transition states.
  • Align and advise the articulation of next level IT Domain Strategies, ensuring high quality and consistency with overall IT Strategy.
  • Establish, monitor, and communicate progress on the execution of the overall IT Strategic Plan, incorporating key metrics and OKRs to demonstrate alignment and impact.
  • Liaise with change colleagues to prioritise and track the impact of transformation programmes delivering the IT and Digital strategy
  • Write consultation papers on technology topics and trends for executive and board colleagues
  • Participate in architecture governance to ensure enterprise perspective is considered on all architecture proposals.

What will make you stand out?

The successful candidate will have proven experience in IT Strategy, Digital Strategy and Innovation within banking and financial services, with excellent consultation and presentation skills. You will have a deep understanding of modern technology stacks, including cloud computing, microservices architecture, API driven architectures, data architectures and associated technology trends.

Superb communication, influencing and teamwork skills, with a proven record of working in multi-functional teams.

Essential Qualifications

Computer Science or a related field.

The Digital and Enterprise Architecture team is passionate about modernising and simplifying the technology of Bank of Ireland to enable the best experiences for customer and colleagues.

The team is hardworking, knowledgeable, with skills in IT Strategy, Architecture, IT Consulting, and deep technology understanding. These skills are used to build IT and Digital Strategies, Roadmaps, and Architectures to that drive the transformation of the Bank's technology.

This is a hybrid role, based primarily at Baggot Plaza, Dublin. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support collaboration and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
