What is the opportunity?

Within Bank of Ireland we are evolving our business to respond to the continuously developing needs of our customers. Aligning to Agile ways of working and putting the customer at the heart of what we do, we are looking for someone to lead on Product Owner Standards and Governance!

In this role, you will:

Standards Definition & Maintenance
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive set of standards and guidelines for Product Ownership, including role expectations, artefacts, ceremonies, and decision rights.
  • Ensure alignment with Agile delivery models, regulatory requirements, and Bank of Ireland's strategic objectives.
  • Regularly review and update standards to reflect evolving practices and feedback from the Product Owner community.
Governance Frameworks
  • Establish governance structures to support effective oversight of Product Owner activities, including prioritisation, backlog management, and value delivery.
  • Define and implement mechanisms for role accountability, critical issue paths, and decision-making protocols.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to ensure governance frameworks meet internal and external requirements.
Compliance & Assurance
  • Monitor adherence to Product Owner standards across tribes and business units.
  • Support internal reviews and audits by providing evidence of compliance and maturity.
  • Identify gaps and risks in practice adoption and propose mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with Tribe Leads, Agile Coaches, and other CoEs to embed standards and governance into day-to-day operations.
  • Provide mentorship and support to Product Owners and their teams on applying standards effectively.
  • Facilitate forums and working groups to gather feedback and drive continuous improvement.

What will make you stand out?

  • Strong experience in Product Ownership, Agile delivery, or governance roles within financial services or regulated environments.
  • Deep understanding of Agile frameworks and enterprise delivery models.
  • Validated ability to develop and implement standards and governance structures.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and partner leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with risk management, regulatory adherence, and audit processes is helpful.

This is a hybrid role and can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location in Baggot Plaza, Dublin. Travel will be required for in-person collaboration -exact frequency to be agreed with manager.
