What is the opportunity?

We are seeking an experienced Colleague Communications Manager to design and deliver clear, engaging internal communications that:

  • Support the execution of Bank of Ireland's strategy.
  • Work with divisional leadership, in collaboration with Group, to implement a division-wide colleague communications strategy that supports the divisional priorities.
  • Creative corporate campaigns across the full spectrum of communications channels. Top-class writing skills are key, along with an ability to build relationships.
  • Ensure alignment with communications to other Group audiences, both internal and external.
  • Support commercial success and change management, strengthen reputation, and drive deeper colleague engagement with the Group's priorities.

In this role, you will:

  • Devise and deliver, as part of the Colleague Communications team within Group Corporate Affairs, an annual communications plan that meet the needs of the division. This plan should include:
  • Leadership communication: Support Senior Leaders in crafting and delivering messages to colleagues.
  • Content creation: Develop compelling and creative content to engage colleagues. Write, edit, and proofread a variety of internal communication materials to a very high standard including key messages, emails, newsletters, scripts and FAQs.
  • Support divisional events: Plan and deliver impactful and engaging virtual and physical events for colleagues at all levels within the division, ensuring leaders are well-prepared, content is clear, and technical delivery runs smoothly.
  • Support on change management: Support change initiatives as they relate to the division, and other divisions, as may be required.
  • Reputational protection: Be highly alert to emerging reputational issues within the division and working with the wider Group Corporate Affairs team collaborative and agile in how these are managed.
  • Channel strategy and management: Oversee the creation, management and usage of divisional internal communication channels to ensure they are effective and reach the right audiences.
  • Performance Measurement: Measure, review, and optimise the efficiency of colleague communications through analytics and feedback to enhance colleague communications. Compile quarterly reports to support insight-driven decision-making for internal communications activities.
  • Collaboration: Act as a team player within the Group Corporate Affairs team, supporting team members as required.

What will make you stand out?

  • Experience in corporate communications, internal/employee communications, or change communications.
  • Excellent writing skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven track record producing written and multimedia content for employee audiences.
  • Experience managing communication channels and campaigns end-to-end.
  • Comfortable working with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with comms platforms (SharePoint/other intranets, Office365/Google Workspace, Slack/Teams, video tools) preferred, along with the ability to demonstrate keeping pace with external communications trends and how colleagues consume content.
  • Confidence in using emerging tools such as AI to support and enhance communications ?" with good judgment on when and how to apply them effectively.
  • Strategic thinker with solid project management and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage with all divisions across the Group.
  • Very comfortable working in fast-paced environments.
  • Comfortable analysing data to interpret metrics and recommend changes.

Group Corporate Affairs plays a critical role in helping Bank of Ireland Group execute its strategy and deliver long-term commercial success. The team has overall responsibility for the management of the Group's engagement with colleagues, media, and political and policy stakeholders, and the protection and enhancement of reputation. Working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, the team engages with colleagues at all levels and in all divisions of the Group to deliver excellent, commercially-focussed, and highly responsive communications and engagement with external and internal stakeholders.

This is a hybrid role, based primarily at Baggot Plaza, Dublin 4. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support collaboration and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
