What is the opportunity?

Join Group Internal Audit as a Senior Audit Manager supporting New Ireland Wealth & Insurance. Group Internal Audit is the Bank of Ireland Group's third line of defence, providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of risk management and internal control frameworks. This is an excellent opportunity to lead impactful audit engagements, influence senior stakeholders, and provide valuable insight across a dynamic and highly regulated business. You will play a key role in helping Bank of Ireland make better decisions by identifying risks, strengthening controls, and supporting continuous improvement across the organisation.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of risk-based audit engagements across New Ireland and Bank of Ireland Insurance Services, from planning and fieldwork through to reporting and follow-up.
  • Assess the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls, identifying emerging risks, trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Deliver clear, evidence-based audit opinions and reports for senior management, executive leadership, Boards and Audit Committees.
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, providing constructive challenge, influencing positive outcomes and supporting the timely remediation of audit findings.
  • Lead, mentor and develop audit colleagues while contributing to audit planning, control environment assessments, methodology enhancements and broader assurance activities.

What will make you stand out?

You will bring extensive experience within Internal Audit, Risk, or a related assurance function in a regulated financial services environment. A strong understanding of life insurance, wealth management and the associated regulatory landscape will support your success in this role.

You are comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and can communicate complex topics clearly and confidently to a range of audiences. Your ability to apply sound judgement, analyse information from multiple sources and translate findings into practical insights will help you make a meaningful impact.

Experience with the following will help you stand out but is not required to apply for this role:

  • Leading audit engagements within insurance or wealth businesses.
  • Using data analytics and innovative audit techniques to enhance assurance activities.
  • Developing control environment assessments and assurance planning.
  • Managing people and supporting team development within a professional environment.

Essential qualifications

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification or a recognised accountancy qualification such as ACA or ACCA is required for this role.
